17 year old Alec Sanford Lansing was sent to Academy of Trails Carolina after a tough period in his life where his brother died.
He ran from a wilderness walk. The authorities searched for him using helicopters ect.
Unfortunately he tripped and broke a hip. He fell into a stream where he died from exposure.
A tragedy for his family.

trails carolina is an abusive environment. there are many escape attempts and staff are completely unprofessional and emotionally abusive. they are all about “power and control” and threaten to take away the few privileges you still have left. for instance, a staff threatened me with “food ban.” which is not only illegal, but not therapeutic. awful program.

absolutely true, this program is abusive in nature and should be reviewed by the state officials because of the treatment neglect that goes on. Some of the counselors, ahem should have their licenses revoked as well. Not right at all.
